wd/lsb set 10-29 #609215

CONCORD, MASS. — The Concord Art Association will open an exhibition, “George Nick: An Artist’s Conscience,” featuring the work of George Nick on Thursday, November 11, from 6 to 7 pm. The exhibition will run through December 23.

This exhibition, which features more than 40 works by the artist will travel to the University of New Hampshire, opening there at The Art Gallery on January 20, and on display through March 10. The exhibition will then travel to the Springfield Art Museum in Springfield, Mo., April 23 to June 25; Hollins University in Roanoke, Va., June 15–August 1; and the New York Studio School of Drawing, Painting and Sculpture, New York City from October 27 to December 10, 2005.

Nick is an acclaimed realist painter. His oil paintings have reflected a wide range of subject matter and yet have been true to specific themes — vintage antique cars, retired locomotives, moored boats, city store fronts, rural and suburban homes. Regardless of imagery, the prime intention and desire is to capture the moment in its resplendent light and color. Gallery NAGA in Boston and the Fischbach Gallery in New York represent Nick. His paintings are in prestigious collections, including the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the Hirshorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington, D.C.; the Metropolitan Museum in New York; the Mint Museum, Charlotte, N.C.; the National Academy of Design, N.Y.; and the Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University in Waltham, Mass.

Nick is professor emeritus at the Mass College of Art and is a visiting professor and lecturer at universities and colleges across the country. He is the recipient of numerous awards and is National Academician at the National Academy of Design.

The Concord Art Association is at 37 Lexington Road. For information, 978-369-2578 or www.concordart.com.
