Finding The Perfect Ride For ‘Going Back In Time’

Ashlar of Newtown and Lockwood Lodge held its fourth annual “Going Back In Time” Classic Car Show and Sock Hop on Saturday, August 13, at their facility on Toddy Hill Road.

Members of the Classic Nights Car Club of Monroe brought 35 cars to the event, which included music by deejay Seth Carley, a barbecue, and a meet-and-greet by the greyhound rescue organization.

“Despite the heat, we had the most cars and the most spectators,” said Peggy Loulis, recreation director of Lockwood Lodge. “They came with appetites and curiosity. We didn’t have as many [Ashlar and Lockwood Lodge] residents, because it was so hot, but some who came were real troopers.”

Rich Gallaher took first place in the People’s Choice competition with his 1963 Impala. Ms Loulis, whose husband Fred is the club spokesman, brought her 1964 Thunderbird convertible nicknamed Bluebird.

Members of the local Greyhound Rescue and Rehabilitation chapter brought several greyhounds who have been guests at Ashlar’s popular “pet therapy” program. The group will be having a meet-and-greet on Saturday, August 27, from 11 am to 2 pm at Choice Pets, 67 Newtown Road in Danbury, to encourage adoptions.
