Fairfield Community Foundation Supports Ann’s Place

DANBURY —Through the efforts of Karen Brown, vice president of programs for the Fairfield County Community Foundation (FCCF), Ann’s Place was awarded a grant of $15,000. This generous gift was made possible from a FCCF donor-advised funder, who receives philanthropic advisory services from FCCF staff.

The thoughtful donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, has greatly assisted Ann’s Place in the provision of services to individuals and families challenged by cancer.

In awarding this grant, Ms Brown stated, “Ann’s Place delivers a remarkable array of services for Fairfield County individuals and their families impacted by cancer. Our donor was impressed by the fact that these services are provided free of charge, and wanted to support that mission.”

Located in Danbury and serving all of Fairfield County, Ann’s Place serves more than 750 people (including individuals and families) each month. The grant has been designated for clinical services, thus ensuring the continued ability of Ann’s Place to respond to the needs of the people throughout the region.

All services and programs are provided free of charge, including compassionate and professional counseling for individuals, groups, and families, along with art therapy and numerous support groups. Services are provided from time of diagnosis through treatment, and for the subsequent years of recovery.

Ann’s Place will be moving into its new home on Saw Mill Road in Danbury in the fall of this year. This welcoming facility will provide a homelike setting for clinical services and accommodate continued growth.

The Ann’s Place Executive Director Wilda Hayes said, “With a high incidence of cancer diagnoses in Fairfield County, Ann’s Place has added clinical staff and increased services to meet the growing need. The generous support of this thoughtful donor through Fairfield County Community Foundation is especially timely and meaningful, and is a gift of hope to countless cancer survivors.”
