Local residents are being advised that on the heels of last week's blizzard, Eversource is surveying high-voltage power lines throughout Connecticut including lines in Newtown, checking for any damage done during the storm that may threaten electric reliability.

These inspections will occur beginning Tuesday, January 9 through Friday, January 12. Weather permitting, flights are scheduled to take place between 8 am and 4 pm.

A low flying helicopter is being used to also check for tree limbs or branches that may have broken in the high winds and be in a position to potentially damage a line and cause a power outage.

The aircraft include a blue & gray helicopter, tail # N1431W, and a blue & white helicopter, tail #N411DD.
