Emma B. Pavao, 99, a longtime resident of the Hawleyville section of Newtown, died peacefully on the early morning of September 14, in her sleep.

She was a life member of the United Methodist Church of Danbury.

Mrs Pavao truly lived life to the fullest through her many passions; she loved gardening, traveling here and abroad, and was an avid reader. She had a special place in her heart for her animals, and simply chatting with family and friends made her the happiest she could ever be. Over the years Mrs Pavao traveled all around the world with her friends, but her last trip to the Holy Land fulfilled her travel dreams.

She worked night shifts at Barden's during World War II, and she also worked for De Sherbinin Products in Hawleyville as the traffic manager until her retirement at 82 years of age. She remained active even during her later years. She volunteered her time at the Dorothy Day Hospitality House, Helping Hands, and devoted much of her life to many church functions.

Her son, John Pavao of Hawleyville; daughter, June Kennedy of New Milford; grandchildren, Laura Bjorklund, Kevin Kennedy, Theresa Luallen, and Roberta Mateer; and eight great-grandchildren, survive her.

Her husband, Antone Pavao, predeceased her.

Mrs Pavao's loved ones say she touched the lives of many people with her smile, generosity, and trademark sense of humor. She will be missed and remembered by many.

A calling hour will start at 10 am on Monday, September 18, at the United Methodist Church, Clapboard Ridge Road, Danbury, with a Service of the Resurrection at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in Land's End Cemetery, Hawleyville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a to a charity of one's choice.

Funeral arrangements are in care of the Honan Funeral Home, Newtown.
