Elaine Irene (Mable) Pozek, 80, of Newtown died unexpectedly April 6. She was born in Stamford, on March 8, 1937, to the late Irene and John Mable.

She graduated from Stamford High School in 1954 and worked as a secretary at Dorr Oliver before becoming a full-time homemaker raising her three children. Once her children were grown, she worked as a nursery school teacher in Springdale.

Mrs Pozek was a devoted mother and grandmother and enjoyed traveling, birdwatching, gardening, and her collection of dolls. As an avid doll collector, she belonged to the Queen Anne Doll Club of Stamford, as well as the American Federated Doll Club. In past years, she belonged to the Redding Garden Club, St Patrick's Women's Guild, and also was the secretary for the Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge 616 where she was a member.

Her loving husband, Rudolph J. Pozek; her daughters, Sheri Hoyt and her partner John Vecchio of Southbury, Kim Coppola and her husband Mike of Stamford, and Candace Badinelli and her husband Al of Danbury; her grandchildren, Taylor Hoyt and fiancé Ryan Koenig, Carly Hoyt, and Nikolas Badinelli; and her sister-in-law, Phyllis Mable of Stamford, survive her. Her brothers, Theodore Mable and Richard Mable, predeceased her.

Recently, Mrs Pozek had transitional care from New England Home Care, Waterbury. Her loved ones say the care she received from the nurses was exceptional, they were dedicated to her well-being and compassionate to her needs. Although this organization does not accept donations, the family has asked in lieu of flowers to make donations to St Patrick's Church (address below) Women's Guild.

To honor her remembrances and share with her family and friends, a memorial service will at St Patrick's Church, 169 Black Rock Turnpike (Route 58), Redding CT 06896 on Saturday, April 22, at 10 am.

A funeral Mass will follow at 11 am at the church with a luncheon following the Mass. Burial will be immediate family only.
