PARIS, FRANCE — Galerie Historismus presents “Conflicts and Resolutions: A Selection of Early Twentieth Century Masterpieces,” opening September 12 and on view through December 20. “Conflicts and Resolutions” features 20 exceptional works of applied art, painting and sculpture.

In the realm of applied art, a unique ceiling lamp designed by Henry van de Velde in 1906 for Ernst Lubeck is in polished brass, garnished with an opalescent glass shade.

Another highlight of the exhibition is a unique vase in hammered and polished brass, set with tiger-eye cabochons, designed by Koloman Moser in 1903, bearing the hallmark of Galerie Miethke, Vienna.

Also on view are two of Lyubov Popova’s revolutionary relief paintings.

Sculptural masterpieces to be featured are “Grotesque III,” the only original sculpture outside of German museums by Oskar Schlemmer, master of form and the stage at the Bauhaus, and “Carpenter,” a  1915 sculpture created from found objects by the Russian Suprematist artist Ivan Kliun.
