Dr Wollman Named Director  

Of VNA’s Dementia Program

 WALLINGFORD –– Daniel E. Wollman, MD, PhD, has been named medical director of the Dementia Program: Living With Memory Loss for Connecticut VNA and Connecticut VNA, SE.

Dr Wollman is a resident of Newtown.

In making the announcement, Kathy Peirce, vice president of clinical services for Connecticut VNA, said, “We are very pleased to have Dr Wollman serve as medical director of our dementia program. With his extensive background and expertise in the field of geriatrics, Dr Wollman will be a valuable addition to our team.”

Dr Wollman is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, receiving a combined degree through the school’s MD-PhD Program. He completed his residency in internal medicine at St Vincent’s Medical Center/Columbia University and his fellowship in the Department of Geriatrics at Mount Sinai School of Medicine. Dr Wollman is currently the medical director for the Institute of Aging at the Jewish Home for the Elderly in Fairfield and will continue to serve in that capacity.

With more than 70,000 individuals in Connecticut diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, Connecticut VNA launched its Dementia Program: Living With Memory Loss in 2002 to provide caregivers with assistance from professionals specially trained in memory loss and geriatrics. Designed to help meet the complex needs and challenges involved with preserving a dementia patient’s independence, the program has grown considerably and is now available to residents throughout the state.
