A dinner fundraiser for Friends of Kakamega Orphan Care Center, located in Kakamega, Kenya, will be held at Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West Street, on Saturday, November 12. The event will begin at 6 pm.

Suggested donation is $20 for adults, and $10 for children, with a family maximum of $50.

During the dinner, Newtown High School students Emily Krasnickas and Hanna Holmes will present a slide show about their experience this past summer, when they worked in the care center's summer camp. The girls will also share stories about their experiences with the children, Kenyan culture, and information about Friends of Kakamega, a 501(c)(3) that supports the grassroots project that assists children whose parents have died of AIDS and other diseases.

Items from Kenya, including handwoven baskets, will be available for purchase.

Reservations are requested so that organizers can prepare food for the evening's guests. Send email to kenyadinner1@gmail.com for reservations and additional information. Contact the church office, 203-426-9024, for additional information.
