Diana L. Siebert made the Dean’s List at Western Connecticut State University for the spring semester.

Two Newtown residents attending Virginia Tech made the Dean’s List for the past semester. Justin K. Miller, majoring in construction engineering and management in the College of Engineering, and Ethan S. Reed, majoring in general engineering in the College of Engineering, made the Dean’s List by earning at least a 3.4 grade point average or higher during the semester.

Kirsten L. Carleton, daughter of Stephen Carleton and Rebecca Carleton of Sandy Hook, graduated Sunday May 25 from Amherst College in Massachusetts. Kirsten was an English major, and she was one of the 445 students who received their degrees during the graduation ceremony.

Roger Williams University, Bristol, R.I., has released its Dean’s List for the spring 2008 semester. Students who completed 12 or more credits per semester and earned a grade point average of 3.4 or higher made the Dean’s List. Included were Michelle Steuer, an anthropology/sociology and elementary education major, Alyssa Schankman, a English literature and elementary education major, Katherine Mauro, a history and elementary education major, Samantha Ciaccia, a communications major, and Tricia Reed, a undeclared liberal arts major from Sandy Hook.

Barton Conant and Caitlin O’Keefe graduated from Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania on May 18. Barton majored in management, and Caitlin majored in political science.

Sacred Heart University in Fairfield released its Dean’s List this past week, and Megan Regnery made the list by obtaining a grade point average higher than a 3.6.

Also at Sacred Heart University, Evin Liljengren received his master of arts in teaching degree, Keira Morin received her master of arts in teaching degree, Nina Palazzo received her master of arts in teaching degree, Carolyn Bruno received a postgraduate certificate-nurse practitioner and Sara Farfaglia of Sandy Hook received her master of arts in teaching.

Christopher Dubin of Sandy Hook made the dean’s list for the spring 2007 semester at the University of Vermont, in Burlington. Christopher’s major is natural resources. To be named to the dean’s lists, students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or better and rank in the top 20 percent of their class in their respective college or school.

In June, Lafayette College, Easton, Penn., sophomore and geology major Maricate Conlon of Sandy Hook learned techniques at the University of California Berkeley that she is now using to further Lafayette’s interdisciplinary project to develop a cost-effective, hybrid method of removing the contaminant perchlorate from groundwater.

Justin Carotti of Sandy Hook made the Dean’s List for the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of North Carolina in Wilmington.

In Hanover, N.H., Brooks Holden Smith, the son of Cotton Smith and Phyllis Smith, graduated from Dartmouth College during the spring 2008 commencement exercises. Brooks was one of more than 1,000 students receiving their bachelor of arts degrees this semester. Brooks majored in Engineering and minored in America History.

Jennifer Lee Omasta of Sandy Hook graduated from Franklin Pierce University with a degree in management. She was also named to the Dean’s Honors List for the spring semester by maintaining a term grade point average of at least 3.65 on a scale of four.

In Worcester, Mass., Keith Taylor Harrison, son of Paul Harrison, received a bachelor of science degree in biomedical engineering at the 140th Commencement exercises at Worcester Polytechnic Institute on May 17.

At Tufts University in Massachusetts, Michael Mangarella of Sandy Hook made the Dean’s List for this past semester. In order to make the Dean’s List at Tufts University students must maintain a grade point average of 3.4 or greater.

David Bunger graduated cum laude from Tufts University, in Boston, with a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering.

Monica Latowicki, daughter of Dr Daniel Albert Latowicki and Kitty Ann Latowicki, was named to the Dean’s List of Emory College, in Atlanta, Ga. At Emory College students must be in the top 20 percent or have a grade point average of 3.859 or higher to be named to the Dean’s List.

The University of Delaware, in Newark, had five local residents on its Dean’s List for the last semester. To make the Dean’s List, students must be full-time and maintain a grade point average of 3.33 or greater for the semester. On the list were Julie Cynthia Landin, a sophomore double major in finance and international business studies, Jillian Michele Logan, a freshman university studies major, Erica Marie Vacaro, a sophomore biological sciences major, Lindsay Emma Weber, a sophomore double major in psychology and criminal justice major, and Angela Ker-an Gan, a junior music education major general choral major.

Tyler Hull, son of Josh and Margaret Hull, received his bachelor of arts degree in economics and English from Williams College, at the commencement exercises on June 1. Tyler graduated cum laude and during college he participated in varsity crew, a leader and instructor for WOOLF, which is an outdoor orientation program, and he was a junior advisor.

At the University of New Haven, in West Haven, Christian Del Rossi of Sandy Hook and Megan Kelly of Sandy Hook made the Dean’s List, by maintaining full-time status and grade point average of 3.5 or greater.

Zach Schwartz, son of Lisa and Scott Schwartz, was named to the Dean’s List at Brandeis University, in Waltham, Mass. To make the Dean’s List at Brandeis University students must maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or above.

In Hamden at Quinnipiac University, Stephanie R. Logan, Ruthanna E. Shanley and Christopher Wolcott received their bachelor degrees during the graduation ceremony held on May 18.
