David Patrick Hogan, 36, formerly of Sandy Hook, died unexpectedly March 5, at his home in Waterbury. He was born in Glens Falls, N.Y., on June 22, 1981.

He attended school in Danbury and graduated in 1999 from Danbury High School. He received his BS from Sacred Heart University and enjoyed his work in construction management. Mr Hogan served eight years with the Connecticut National Guard, where he attained the rank of first lieutenant.

His beloved daughter, Victoria; his father, Daniel Hogan of Greenwood Village, Colo.; his mother, Nora Hogan of Cape May, N.J.; three of his brothers, Christian Morey, Daniel Hogan, and Ryan Hogan; and a sister, Emily Hogan, survive him.

His best friend and brother, Kevin Hogan, predeceased him.

Mr Hogan was known as a great big brother and mentor to his siblings. He is remembered for his great smile and good heart.

Friends and family are welcome to attend calling hours on Monday, March 12, from 6 to 8 pm, at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Rose of Lima Church, 46 Church Hill Road, Newtown, on Tuesday, March 13, at 10:30 am. Interment with military honors will follow at Wooster Cemetery, Danbury.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to a charity of one's choice.
