ON THE ROAD FOR MARCH 14
While it seems everything I've been adding to the calendar recently has had to
do with Toad's Place and its regularly expanding schedule, this week's first
announcement is that tickets are - surprisingly! - still available for the
JOHN MELLENCAMP shows this weekend (Sunday through Tuesday) at the Oakdale in
Wallingford. Amanda Marshall and Why Store will be opening all three nights.
Of course, having dispensed with that nugget of knowledge, I do have something
new from Toad's Place... FOUNTAINS OF WAYNE will be at the New Haven club
April 13. And if you can't make it to the KISS show at the Coliseum next
Friday, wait about a month and "the ultimate Kiss tribute" - STRUTTER - might
make up for it. Strutter will be at Toad's April 20. Devlyn Grace opens that
one.
On Saturday morning, tickets will be going on sale for a WIDESPREAD PANIC show
at the Palace in New Haven. Date for the show is Saturday, April 19. No opener
has been announced yet, but it's an 8 pm show. You could try calling the
Palace box office (789-2120) for tickets, but your better bet would be to go
through Pro-Tix (860/422-0000) or stop in any Strawberries Music & Video
Store.
Until next week, I'll be seeing you... on the road.
Questions and comments concerning "On The Road" (or anything music related)
should be sent to Shannon Hicks, c/o Bee Publishing Co., 5 Church Hill Road,
Newtown 06470, or send me your cyber thoughts at editor @thebee.com (put
Attention Shannon on the subject line). Include a phone number for
confirmation, por favor . If you don't have a stamp or a piece of paper or a
writing utensil that works, give me a call! Phone number at the office is
426-3141. Leave a name, though, because anonymous messages left with the
receptionist don't cut it.
