Newtown High School’s dance team won the South-West Conference jazz and hip hop division championships at New Milford High School on January 30. This marks the fourth year in a row the dancers have captured at least one conference crown.

A year ago, the team placed first in the jazz category of the SWC competition, and second in SWC’s hip hop division. Newtown was runner-up at the state level in jazz last winter.

The team is led by captains Meera Gupta, Michaela Hall, Kaitlyn Pierce, and Charlotte Stenz, and coached by Cheryl Stenz.
