Danbury Hospital

Orestes Arcuni, MD, chairman of psychiatry at Danbury Hospital, has been named a life member of the National Registry of Who’s Who. Dr Arcuni is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry and is a board-certified forensic examiner. Since 1994 he has served as chairman of the hospital’s medical staff’s medical education committee and founded a program to serve chronically mentally ill patients and a crisis intervention program.

Richard M. Margules, MD, has been appointed director of surgical education at Danbury Hospital. He also has been appointed to serve on the faculty of New York Medical College as clinical assistant professor of surgery. A board-certified general/vascular surgeon, he is a former Newtown resident.

Monika LoBuglio, RN, has been named manager of Danbury Hospital’s Critical Care Unit (ICU/CCU). Ms LoGuglio holds a master’s degree in management/strategic planning from Pace University and has more than 20 years of acute health care experience.

Bridgeport Hospital

Dr Herbert Hermele of Fairfield has been elected president of the Bridgeport Hospital medical staff for 2000. Dr Anthony Musto of Fairfield has been elected vice president, and Dr Michael Werdmann of Monroe is secretary-treasurer. Dr Werdmann is chairman of the hospital’s emergency department.

Patricia Strasburger, RN, from Newtown, has been named program manager of the Rehabilitation Unit at Bridgeport Hospital.

Waterbury Hospital

Neil F. Schiff, MD, of Lindeman & Schiff Ear, Nose, and Throat Specialists, PC, with offices in Southbury and Waterbury, has been installed as the president of the Waterbury Medical Association for the year 2000. He also has been accepted by the National Registry of Who’s Who as a life member in recognition of his service to the community and his profession.

David Podell, MD, director of the Department of Medicine at Waterbury Hospital, has been elected Connecticut governor of the American College of Physicians-American Society of Internal Medicine (ACP-ASIM), the nation’s largest medical specialty society with a membership of more than 90,000 physicians.

Masonicare

Rafael Scuillo, vice president of Hospice and Allied Services for the Connecticut VNA, has been elected chair elect of the National Hospice Organization (NHO). He also has served as president of the Hospice Council of Connecticut for the past four years. The Connecticut VNA is an affiliate of Masonicare, which operates Ashlar of Newtown and Lockwood Lodge in Sandy Hook.
