‘Caught In The Net’ Will Open Town Players 2009 Season

What do you get when you put mistaken identities, sexual innuendo, crazy plot twists, much slamming of doors, and dirty old men together? A classic British farce, and Town Players is pleased to present Caught in the Net by that “master of farce” Ray Cooney, May 1-17.

In this hilarious sequel to Run for Your Wife (which Town Players produced in 2000), taxi driver John Smith is happily commuting between his marriages to Barbara in Streatham and Mary in Wimbledon, as he has been doing for nearly 20 years. But when his teenage son Gavin, from his marriage to Barbara, hooks up in an online chat room with his teenage daughter Vicki, from his marriage to Mary, his world is about to come tumbling down around his ears.

What’s a desperate bigamist to do? Why, turn to one’s best friend for help – even though that best friend might have other plans for the weekend. The chaos that ensues is a guaranteed evening of laughter.

Caught in the Net features Ron Gross of Danbury as John Smith; Denise Loeber of Danbury as Barbara Smith; Susie Sarkisian of Danbury as Mary Smith; Richard Warren of Milford as Stanley Gardner; Zoe DeStories of Newtown as Vicki Smith; Justin Villamil of Newtown as Gavin Smith; and Chris Bird of Newtown as “Dad.”

Directed by Pam Meister of Newtown and produced by Mary Poile of Ridgefield, Caught in the Net will launch the 2009 season for Town Players of Newtown. Performances will be Fridays and Saturdays, May 1-16, at 8 pm. There will be Sunday matinee performances on May 10 and 17 at 2 pm.

Tickets are $18 for all evening shows, $15 for the matinees.
