Canine Advocates Fundraiser This Weekend

An evening of fine wines, delicious food, good music, and fun is planned for “Putting on the Dog,” Canine Advocates of Newtown’s gala fall fundraiser, to be held on the grounds of McLaughlin Vineyards on Saturday, September 30, from 6 to 9 pm.

Tickets are $50 per person, and reservations are strongly suggested due to the limited amount of space.

A wine tasting will feature superb local wines from our hometown vineyard owner, Morgen McLaughlin-Smith, as well as outstanding wines from around the world provided by Matt DeAngelis of Yankee Wine and Liquor and Stop & Save Liquor. Bountiful, savory hors d’oeuvres and scrumptious desserts created by local caterers and restaurants will be served.

The proceeds of the evening, including 100 percent of the profits from all wines sold as a result of the tasting, will benefit Canine Advocates’ building fund for a new pound in Newtown.

The Chris DeAngelis Trio will play light jazz throughout the evening, and the excitement will build as the Silent Auction, featuring items and services donated by Newtown businesses and residents, heats up.

Tandem skydiving jumps, spa packages, artworks, golf and tennis packages are just a few of the many varied items up for bid.

“Put on the dog, bring your checkbook, and be ready for a special evening,” said Virginia Jess, president of Canine Advocates of Newtown.
