Kelly Rodden of Sandy Hook, a sophomore elementary education major, is among the recipients of the prestigious $1,250 F. Donald Kenney International Scholars award to study in Ireland for the spring 2005 semester. Kelly is a student at St Bonaventure University in St Bonaventure, N,Y. In addition, she was recently inducted into Phi Eta Sigma, the oldest and largest honor society in the United States.

Ashley Whitlock, daughter of Tami and Gil Whitlock, was accepted this fall into the State University of New York (SUNY) College of Agriculture and Technology at Cobleskill, N.Y. She is majoring in agricultural business. While she is completing her degree, Ms Whitlock is exploring the possibility of continuing school to study zoology. She would one day like to own an equine grooming facility or own a nonprofit animal shelter where the animals could be used for behavioral therapy with the elderly and the disabled.

Amanda Hadgraft of Sandy Hook, a first-year student at Elmira College in Elmira, N.Y., recently received The Presidential Scholarship, valued at $40,000 over four years. Awards are based on rank in secondary school class, over all academic achievement, and test scores.
