Breeze Needs A Pitcher

 

The Connecticut Breeze 18-and-under girls’ fastpitch softball team needs a pitcher for the summer 2000 traveling team. The team will play six tournaments (three local/three travel) and compete in a weekday night league. If interested, please call Mark McCusker at 426-1501 or Tom Charney at 1-203-877-9148.

Travel Softball For 12 Year Olds

 

Any girls interested in playing traveling softball this summer and will be under the age of 13 up until January 1, 2001, can contact Paul LaFrancesca at 270-1844. The team will compete in the Central Valley ASA Fast Pitch League, in addition to competing in weekend tournaments.

New Travel Softball Division

 

Players are need for 10-and-under and 12-and-under summer traveling softball teams. Any girls interested, who will be under the age of 13 until January 1, 2001, should contact Paul LaFrancesca at 270-1844 as soon as possible for tryout information. (Note: if you are 11 years old prior to January 1, 2001, you must play U12). The two teams will compete in the Central Valley ASA Fast Pitch League, in addition to competing in weekend tournament. The season will consist of at least 20 games.

U15 Boys Premier Tryouts

 

The Newtown Strikers Boys U15 Premier team will hold tryouts Wednesday, July 12, and Tuesday, July 18, from 6 to 8 pm, at the Newtown Middle School. Beachside Soccer

 

Beachside Soccer of Connecticut will hold premier soccer tryouts for the coming 2000-2001 playing year at the Greens Farm Academy in Westport. Beachside sponsors soccer teams from U12 to U18 and all play in the highest division of the CJSA Premier League in Connecticut (three of the five teams also play in the Mid-Atlantic Premier Soccer regional league which competes from Maryland to Connecticut). Each team will play in at least six regional tournaments and four to six indoor tournaments. A top-flight coaching staff is led by Mickey Kydes, a former All-American at LIU who played professional with the NY/NJ Metrostars, the Dallas Sidekicks and the New York Fever. Tryouts will be held Thursday, July 6, and Monday, July 10, from 5 to 6:30 pm, for U15, U16, U17, and U18; Friday, July 7, and Tuesday, July 11, from 4:30 to 6 pm, for U13 and U14; and Friday, July 7, and Tuesday, July 11, from 5:30 to 7 pm, for U12. Soccer Club Summer Camp

 

Gear-up for the upcoming soccer season and gain a competitive edge by registering for the Newtown Soccer Club’s summer soccer camp. If you’re a player entering Grade 6 (C/D Division) through High School (including all travel teams), you can sharpen your soccer skills by attending camp from August 7-11, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Fairfield Hills. Newtown High School varsity soccer coaches, Brian Neumeyer and John Kostelis, will direct the camp. The fee is $80. Checks should be made payable to NSC Summer Camp and mailed to NSC, PO Box 193, Newtown, CT 06470. NSC must receive checks by August 1. Applications are available at the library. New Milford Road Race

 

The 33rd annual New Milford 8-Mile Road Race will be held Saturday, July 29, at 9:30 am (rain or shine), in New Milford. There will be more than $2,100 in prize money available, t-shirts to the first 450 registered runners, goody-filled race packets, and course entertainment. Pre-entry is $13 when postmarked by Wednesday, July 19, and $15 when post-marked after July 19 (or on race day). Race day registration is from 8 am to 9 am. New Milford Soccer Tryouts

 

The Soccer Club of New Milford will be holding open tryouts for the U13 and U14 boys’ premier teams, which will play for the 2000-2001 season. The first two tryout dates have been set for July 6 and July 11. The U13 boys will beet from 5 to 6:30 pm at Carlson Grove Field in New Milford (call Ernie Raymond at 1-860-355-1969 for further information). The U14 team will beet from 6:30 to 8 pm, also at Carlson Grove Field (call Rich Reynolds at 1-860-354-9459.
