BPW Plans Mini-Golf Tourney

Newtown BPW is helping to plan a mini-golf tournament, “Sometimes Less is More (But Never in My Paycheck),” on Saturday, May 13, at 9:30 am at the Olde Sawmill Snack Bar and Miniature Golf on Oxford Road in Oxford.

The Business and Professional Women’s Federation of Connecticut is sponsoring several mini-golf tournaments throughout the state to publicize Equal Pay Day, which is May 11 this year. This is the day in 2000 to which women have to work to equal the money earned by men by December 31, 1999. The Department of Labor has released statistics showing that on average women earn 73 cents for each dollar that men earn.

Girl Scouts will be on hand to assist BPW members with registration. All proceeds will go to college scholarships for women. The golf fee is $5 for men, $3.25 for boys, while women and girls will pay approximately 20 percent less at $4 and $2.50 respectively. Awards will be given for lowest individual and foursome scores, family foursome with lowest score, and foursome with highest score.

Call 203/267-7718 for more information.
