Boys' Basketball Team Defeats Barlow

Newtown High School's boys' basketball team won its third game among its last four contests, and improved to 3-6 overall, with a 73-62 triumph over visiting Joel Barlow of Redding, on January 17.

Evan Eggleston led the way with seven 3-pointers to account for his team-leading 21 points; Eggleston hit 70 percent of his shots from downtown. Derek Ivey, Tucker Garrity, and Todd Petersen had 13, 11, and eight points, respectively.

Sam Grossano had five rebounds and six assists; Petersen pulled down six rebounds and had six blocks; Garrity had five rebounds, five assists, and a pair of steals; and Eggleston, Ivey, and Nick Weiland grabbed six, five, and four rebounds, respectively.
