Blanche E. Denzel, 81, of Newtown, wife of Robert G. Denzel, Jr, died June 4, in her home, surrounded by her family, who say she went to be with the Lord. She was born March 2, 1937, at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City and was the daughter of the late Jose Falo' Seda and Dorothy Whitworth,

She married Robert at Kings Highway Baptist Church, Bridgeport, in 1955. They moved from New York City to Bridgeport and started their family, later moving to Bethel, where her family grew, and they finally settled in Newtown. She said she loved taking care of and raising her six children, and she would do it again. She always said, "It was fun."

Even though she struggled most of her life with a rare arthritis called Ankylosing Spondylitis, she was very active in life, doing crafts and crocheting. She was a member of Bible Baptist Church of Newtown, where she taught with the Bible Study Fellowship for 30 years. She was also an active member of Walnut Hill Community Church in Bethel. She touched the lives of many women through her studies and prayed daily for everyone she knew during her devotions.

She will be missed by her husband and six children, Robert G. Denzel, III, Laura Denzel, Dolores Schofield, Paul Denzel, Shelley Hogenauer, and Sharon Carroll; 17 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren who survive her. She is also survived by her four sisters and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends and family Thursday, June 7, from 5 to 8 pm at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.

Services will be Friday, June 8, at 11 am, at the funeral home, with interment to follow at Newtown Village Cemetery. A celebration of her life will also take place Friday at Walnut Hill Community Church, 156 Walnut Hill Road, Bethel, at 1 pm.
