Bikes For Kids

To the Editor,

Bikes for Kids has begun its 11th year of fixing donated bikes and giving them to poor kids in Connecticut. In the past 10 years, with the help and financial assistance of local businesses, we have given away over 2,500 bikes.

As we begin a new century, our goal this year is to again give away at least 400 bikes. We also hope to donate at least another six ($1,250 each) Special-Needs Bikes to disabled children in schools, hospitals and re-hab centers. In addition, we now have high school students in many shoreline high schools fixing bikes for us in their industrial arts classes and other workshops. High school students learn a new trade as well as doing community service.

Every year the number of needy children in Connecticut that can use our help grows. Without financial assistance from you and other businesses we can’t meet our goals. Last year we had over 75 bikes that could not be repaired as we were out of funds. Together, we can help make needy kids’ dreams come true this Christmas 2000 and not disappoint anyone!

Please send your check to “Bikes for Kids” c/o the New Haven Savings Bank, 20 Main Street, Old Saybrook, CT 06475.

Thank you and may the force be with you…

Sincerely,

Chuck Graeb
