Bernadette "Bernie" Bishop Edwards, 88, of Easton, died February 14 at St Vincent's Medical Center. She was born in Bridgeport and was a longtime Easton resident.

Her sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Diana Edwards of Sandy Hook, Frank and Lisa Edwards of Newtown, Mark Edwards of Southbury, and Scott and Melanie Edwards of Barrington, R.I.; as well as nine grandchildren and her best friend and canine companion, survive Mrs Edwards. Her husband, Frank F. Edwards, and her daughter-in-law, Ellen Edwards, predeceased her.

She was active at the Easton and Newtown Senior Centers and enjoyed many gatherings at the Fairweather Yacht Club with friends and family.

In Mrs Edwards earlier years she worked for Underwood Typewriter Co. in Bridgeport and, Daybreak Nurseries and Fillow Flowers in Westport. She was an excellent gardener and cook, and she opened her heart and home to many.

Friends are invited to greet the family on Friday, February 17, from 5 to 8 pm, at the Cyril F. Mullins Trumbull Funeral Home, 399 White Plains Road, Trumbull. A memorial mass will take place on Saturday, February 18, at 11 am Notre Dame of Easton Church, 640 Morehouse Road, Easton. Interment will be private.
