August 14 Primary Absentee Ballots Available July 24

Town Clerk Debbie Halstead is reminding local registered Democrats and Republicans that party primaries are approaching.click here.

Any person eligible to vote in the Republican and Democratic State and District Primaries to be held on August 14 may cast his or her vote by absentee ballot if unable to appear in person for one or more of the reasons set forth in Connecticut General Statutes Section 9-135:

*Absence from town during voting hours;

*Religious beliefs which forbid secular activity;

*Active US military service; and

*Service as an election official at a polling place other than his/her own polling place.

Any person who is eligible to vote by absentee ballot may apply in person or by mail to the Town Clerk of Newtown, as applicable for an absentee ballot for the August 14 Republican and Democratic State and District Primary.

Absentee ballots will be available in the Town Clerk's Office on Tuesday, July 24.

The Town Clerk will also be available to process applications and absentee ballots during a special absentee voting session on Saturday, August 11 from 9 am to noon at the Newtown Municipal Center, 3 Primrose Street. Anyone with questions is asked to call the Town Clerks Office at 203-270-4210.
