Artwork Of Chuck Dransfield To Be Featured At Regional Hospice’s 2005 Arts Festival

RIDGEFIELD — Well-known local artist and New Fairfield resident Charles (Chuck) Dransfield will be the featured artist for the 2005 Regional Hospice Arts Festival & Cosmopolitan Buffet. This year’s event, again being hosted by Boehringer Ingelheim Corporation at its company headquarters in Ridgefield, will take place on Friday, June 10.

Mr Dransfield has participated as an artist in the annual Arts Festival & Cosmopolitan Buffet for more than ten years and is an active member of Regional Hospice’s New Fairfield Fundraising Chapter, which raised more than $27,000 in its most recent breakfast event. Mr Dransfield has also worked with both Regional Hospice and a Florida hospice agency as a volunteer.

Mr Dransfield began his painting career working in oils, but soon found that his style was more suited for watercolor. He is well known for his landscape paintings often depicting local New England scenes.

He prefers painting quickly and boldly, and enjoys the challenge of controlling the flow of watercolor from his brush to paper. His awards include first and second prizes in watercolor from New Milford Trust for Historic Preservation Annual Art Exhibits, and first prize in watercolor from The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown.

Mr Dransfield’s original art and limited edition, signed prints of a featured piece will be available for sale at the Regional Hospice Arts Festival and Cosmopolitan Buffet. Additional works from more than 100 fine artists will be for sale outright or through a live auction. Works will range from paintings and creative photography to sculpture, pottery, glassworks and handcrafted jewelry.

Admission is $75 per person. Guest will enjoy a variety of music from local musical groups, a sampling of gourmet food from fine restaurants served with wine and champagne, and specialty deserts and coffee served immediately prior to the 9 pm live auction.

Proceeds from the event benefit Regional Hospice of Western Connecticut, a non-profit organization providing care, comfort and compassion to those touched by life-limiting illness and loss in Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield, Sherman, Southbury and Wilton.

The event, which is hosted by Boehringer Ingelheim Corporation at its U.S. corporate headquarters at 900 Old Ridgebury Road in Ridgefield, will take place from 7 to 10 pm.

For tickets or more information, contact Terri Nackid of Regional Hospice at 797-1685, extension 12.
