Appalachian Craft Fair

SHERMAN — Holy Trinity Church will host its Thirteenth Annual Appalachian Craft Fair on Friday, July 11, and Saturday, July 12. Hours will be noon to 8 pm on Friday and 10 am to 2 pm on Saturday. The church is on Route 37 in the center of Sherman.

Volunteers have spent countless hours preparing for this year’s event, and have continued to stress the motto of the fair: “Helping others to help themselves.”

The Appalachian region is one of the economically challenged regions of the United States. Holy Trinity’s fair is an outlet for the crafters to sell their wares free of all additional charges. Through the years it has been a popular source of revenue to both the experienced craft person and the apprentice to display the fruits of their labor and bring home a profit.

Crafters establish the prices of the items, and all the money obtained from fair’s sales is returned to the craft person or their co-op.

The fair features hand woven baskets, rugs, table runners and placemats, wooden items, stools, brooms, shelves, toys, hand quilted bed quilts, aprons, pillows, and hand thrown pottery that will enhance the modern home design of today.

For additional information contact this year’s chairman, Amy Heslin, at 860-210-0174.
