To the Editor:

Thanksgiving morning in Newtown was again full of runners and walkers who turned up to earn their stuffing and help support the Cyrenius H. Booth Library by participating in this year's eighth annual Newtown Turkey Trot. We had clear, sunny skies and a huge turnout with 1,500-plus participants. The C.H. Booth Turkey Trot Committee would like to acknowledge the generosity of the many organizations and individuals that contributed to making this event so successful and continuing this great Thanksgiving tradition. The proceeds from our sponsors, donors, and race registrants all combined to provide an important source of revenue to our beloved library.

Thank you to our title and founding sponsor, Newtown Savings Bank, as well as other important sponsors which included: C.H. Booth Board of Trustees, The Newtown Bee, The Network Support Company, Western Connecticut Health Network, Sippin Energy, Caldwell & Walsh, Faxon Law Group, Fairfield Equine, Ken Burns Electrical, Collins & Hannafin, McKenney Mechanical, Woodbridge Running Co., Newtown Center Pediatrics, NYA, Ingersoll Auto, MJ Daly, Savings Bank of Danbury, Dental Associates, fisio, Impact, Newtown Car Care, Newtown Veterinary Specialists, Caraluzzi's, Bingley Design, TR Paul, Merryhill Child Care Center, Claris Construction, Nutmeg Striders, Massage Envy Southbury, Hollandia Nursery, JP Maguire Associates, Church Hill Physical Therapy, and Edward Jones.

We thank the Board of Education for the use of the middle school and the Hawley School. The police department, as always, ensured the public's safety. The library staff and board provided consistent support throughout the planning and execution of the event.

Finally, we salute the many volunteers who joined forces to execute this multifaceted event. We don't have room to list you all, but we could not have done this without you.

See you next year on Thanksgiving morning!

Jack Weber, race director
