Anna May Kovac, 87, of Stratford died January 27 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. She was the widow of William G. Kovac, Sr. Born in Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late  Anna (Mihocko) and Charles Young.

She had been a longtime Stratford resident and had also lived in Milford recently. She loved the last few years living at Masonicare in Sandy Hook, where she made many new friends.

Mrs Kovac retired as a toll collector from the State of Connecticut. She was a very social person who enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Her daughter, Mary Ann Scioscia and her husband Robert Sr, of Huntington; two sons, William Kovac, Jr, and his wife Ruth of Wallingford, and David Kovac and his wife Donna of New Haven; 12 grandchildren, Kenneth Kovac, Sandra Kovac, Victoria Kovac, Bernadette Adams, Robert Scioscia, Jr, Renee Fenton, Robin Scioscia, Richard Scioscia, Deanna Kovac, David Kovac, Jr, Donn Kovac, and Danyell Kovac; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews survive her

Friends may call on Monday, January 29, from 5 to 8 pm, at the Pistey Funeral Home, 2155 Main Street, Stratford.

Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Tuesday, January 30, at 8:15 am, at the funeral home, and at 9 am at St James Church, 2070 Main Street, Stratford, with a Mass of Christian Burial officiated by the Reverend Rogerio Perri. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery, Stratford.
