An Offensive And Unbecoming Thought

To the Editor:

In response to Robbin Allen's letter to the editor on September 6, 2016.

I take great issue with her rhetoric and accusation that somehow supporting one candidate over another might somehow impact an emergency response from not only Botsford Fire & Rescue, but any of our town's fine and outstanding emergency services.

Her premise is not only ridiculous, but offensive. While I do not support the actions of that organization's members or officers concerning their actions at the 2016 Newtown Labor Day Parade, I must support their mission and unwavering commitment to our town.

I do not support Hillary or Trump, but again, we must keep each other honest; I would like to ask Ms Allen to provide examples of Mr Trump's divisiveness that should cause any supporter to apologize to a certain race/religious/ethnic group or persons. If she believes in truth, she will have a hard time doing so. The truth here is, Ms Allen wishes to shut down opposition to a liberal, progressive, anti-American agenda, and the best way to do that is point a finger at any one who opposes that agenda and cry foul by yelling racist or other degrading comment while playing the victim. It's tactics like this that allow the IRS to write policies that directly violate the Constitution. Her statement of a 501(c)(3) regarding political support being banned by IRS law is correct; however, the law is completely unconstitutional and a direct violation of the First Amendment in the Bill of Rights.

In summation, it is Ms Allen who should apologize for accusing those who serve our town of somehow being incapable of doing so in a professional manner because they simply do not agree with her own political opinions. The thought is offensive and unbecoming of a resident of Newtown.

Sincerely,

Peter Barresi
