Newtown Parks and Recreation hosted its first Little Miss Valentine's Day Ball on Friday, February 17, from 7 to 9:30 pm, at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Forty-four couples of dads and daughters, as well as granddads and granddaughters, signed up for a night full of dancing and games.

The semiformal ball had a photo booth set up for Valentine's Day pairs and their friends to take pictures with silly props like fluffy hats and big sunglasses. Sandra Lynn Photography was also on site to take professional portrait photos of attendees to help them remember the special night.

The DJ played some upbeat favorites like the "YMCA" by the Village People and slow songs like "A Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong, which was perfect for the young valentines to hop up on their adult partners' toes to dance.

Assistant Director RoseAnn Reggiano said, "I have to give credit to Jennifer Arnold [at Parks and Recreation]. She organized it and did a fabulous job. She helped plan all of this, and I give her a lot of credit."

A spread of food and treats was donated by Cover Two, My Place, Blue Colony Diner, Cafe Xpresso, and Carminuccio's.
