Alexander C. Aliapoulios, 91, of Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Fla., died peacefully February 6 at Maplewood in Newtown, with his loving wife of 68 years, Constance "Connie," by his side. He was born in Manchester, N.H., on October 6, 1925, and was a longtime resident of Norwalk.

His daughter, Cathy Kraut, and her husband, Ronald, of Manhattan; granddaughters and their husbands, Shari and Daniel Wright of Newtown and Kristina and Benjamin Mulhall of Litchfield; grandson, Christopher of Berlin, Conn.; daughter-in-law, Vickie of Redding; and seven great-grandchildren whose frequent energetic presence illuminated his and Connie's lives, survive him. He was predeceased by two sons, Peter of Redding and Charles "Chuck" of Norwalk.

Mr Aliapoulios was a graduate of Saint Anselm College and received a master's degree from Springfield University. He had a career as a respected and well-loved science and biology teacher at Darien Public Schools and King School. He loved big band music and was an enthusiastic saxophone player. He and Connie retired to Lauderdale-by-the-Sea and Hampton Beach, N.H., 30 years ago where they enjoyed the beach life and a lively social scene.

Mr Aliapoulios is deeply missed by his family; a variety of friends in Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Florida; and by the residents and attentive staff at Maplewood.

In lieu of flowers, send your favorite memory of Mr Aliapoulios to Connie Aliapoulios, Maplewood of Newtown, 166 Mt Pleasant Road, Newtown CT 06470.
