Alex J. Perigyi

Alex J. Perigyi, 88, of Fairfield, beloved husband of Elza Gondola Perigyi, died at home with his loving family nearby, on September 22. He was born and raised in Bridgeport and a resident of Fairfield for more than 60 years.

In addition to his devoted wife of 68 years, he will be remembered by one brother, Ernest Perigyi, and his wife Marian, of Newtown; three children and their spouses, Katherine and Albert Fensky, Carl and Jo-Ann Perigyi, and Janet Perigyi Shields; seven grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and several other relatives.

A veteran of World War II, he proudly served in the United States Army’s 1748th Engineer Company. After the war, Mr Perigyi became a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union, Local 39, and later retired from A&M Piping Company.

He was an active member of First United Church of Christ, of Bridgeport, a 32nd Degree Mason, and member of Fidelity-St John’s Lodge #3 in Fairfield. Mr Perigyi was a member of the American Legion Post 143, the Police Square Club, and was a regular with the morning gatherings at Dunkin’ Donuts.

He was blessed with the opportunity to create and share many meaningful memories with his family and friends.

Funeral services took place September 26. Interment with full military honor was in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
