After their February 2005 appearance in Newtown, The Newtown Bee proclaimed “the concert was one of the most outstanding ever presented … an unforgettable afternoon.” (Ms Bachmann and Mr Klibonoff performed in Newtown in April 2009 as a duo, so next month’s performance will mark the first local performance by the full trio in seven years.)

Newtown Friends of Music is pleased announce Trio Solisti will again perform in the theater of Edmond Town Hall on Sunday, February 12, at 3 pm.

The pre-St Valentine’s Day program will include works of W.A. Mozart (Trio in B-flat Major, K 502), Paul Moravec (Passacaglia), a Czardas by Jeno Hubay, arranged by Bachman, and Hungarian Dances Nos 1 and 5 by Johannes Brahms. Following intermission, the program will end with Antonin Dvorak’s Trio in F minor, Op 65.

The trio has made critically acclaimed debuts at The Kennedy Center, in New York City for Lincoln Center’s Great Performers Series and at Town Hall’s Peoples’ Symphony Concerts, the Wolf Trap Center for the Performing Arts and at the internationally renowned Tuscan Sun Festival in Cortona, Italy. They have performed as guests of The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, at Seattle’s Meany Hall, La Jolla’s Revelle series, Milwaukee Symphony’s Pabst Series, Weill Hall at Carnegie Hall, and have toured in Canada.  The Trio is the founding ensemble of Telluride MusicFest in Telluride, Colo., an annual chamber music festival which celebrates its tenth season in 2012.

They perform there with guest artists and have had composers in residence such as Philip Glass and Paul Moravec. The trio’s guest artists have included pianist Adam Neiman, clarinetists David Krakauer and Jon Manasse, violists Hsin-Yun Huang and Toby Appel, violinists Ayano Ninomiya and Jesse Mills, and cellist Wendy Sutter.

Single tickets are available at the box office, priced at $20 (cash or check only). The box office will open at 2 pm on the day of the concert. As always, students K through 12 are admitted free of charge when accompanied by a ticket-holding adult.

Tickets may also be purchased in advance by sending check and self-addressed envelope to Newtown Friends of Music, PO Box 295, Newtown  CT 06470-0295.

Parking is free behind Edmond Town Hall and the facility is handicap accessible. An informal reception following the concert will offer concert goers the opportunity to meet and mingle with the musicians.

Mini-subscriptions for all three Spring 2012 concerts (this one, along with the pianist Ann Schein on March 11, and Escher String Quartet with guest guitarist Jason Vieaux on April 1) are available at the reduced rate of $45.
