To the Editor:

A huge thank you to the Newtown Parks & Recreation and Senior Center for co-sponsoring the Senior Citizen Prom on May 4, at Newtown High School. A wonderful time was had by all.

Kudos to:

*The DJ for his lively music, and for catering to our every whim and request;

*Beth at the photo booth for providing fun props and crazy photos for all;

*the culinary program at the high school for a wonderful meal and yummy desserts;

*the Ben's Lighthouse volunteers for teaching seniors their dances and trying out the old ones, including the polka, conga line, and Macarena;

*the Parks & Rec staff and Anna from the Commission on Aging for setting up the festive atmosphere at the high school and making us feel welcome.

This program is very intergenerational. The seniors enjoyed the Ben's Lighthouse kids, and I hope they learned that there are many active, energetic seniors in Newtown. This was also an opportunity for senior citizens to see the high school building and experience the culinary program.
