A Selfless Leader Will Be Missed

To the Editor:

I am writing to express my thanks and admiration to Mrs Pat Llodra. She is so deserving of her retirement, but will be missed. Mrs Llodra was a respected and effective leader as Newtown's first selectman. She was in a most stressful position. The job demanded that she make timely decisions and arrive at conclusions that were in the best interest of the town. Her accomplishments were many and I believe her legacy and vision will remain a part of Newtown. She set positive and realistic goals that were attainable although difficult at times. She was assertive and aggressive when she needed to be, but also possessed integrity. She spoke lovingly from her heart when dealing with the Sandy Hook tragedy that took place during her tenure.

On different occasions I had called Mrs Llodra's office with questions and concerns. She was always available to speak to me and offered her assistance and reassurance to solve the problem. I am sure our newly elected first selectman, Mr Rosenthal will serve our town well, but there is also sadness with Mrs Llodra's leaving. Thank you, Pat Llodra, for all of your selfless work. May God's blessings follow you on your next journey.
