To the Editor:

Some people are recognized by only one name. Art Sheehan of Monroe was one.

God called him home on April 28. Art was an extraordinary man who strove to make a difference and did exactly that. He truly lived his mantra of Faith, Family, and Friends. He was a daily Mass attendant at St Jude's.

Art touched many lives, as evidenced at his services. He was still substitute teaching at Masuk High School as recently as November at the age of 87 years. He was mentoring a boy from Bridgeport until a couple of years ago. He was the ultimate romantic to his cherished bride, Kaye. He served his country well in Korea and had a distinguished career as a private investigator. You were blessed if you had the pleasure of knowing Art. Maybe you were a longtime friend from Roger Ludlow High School or Fairfield University, from St. Jude's in Monroe, St Rose in Newtown, the Knights of Columbus, the Monroe Grandparents' Club, Mousam Lake in Maine, Nippo Lake in New Hampshire, a bowling league, or a golf league.

We would like to thank all who touched Art's life. We want to thank those who were there recently to enhance the quality of his life. Thank you to the staff at Masonicare in Newtown. You treated Art with compassion and kindness. Thanks to Dan Cologna and staff from Castle Group Homecare. Thank you to the Knights of Columbus, Carl, Ian, staff, faculty, and students from Masuk, his CRHP brothers, the Korean War Vets, Fr Skip, Msgr Dariusz, Fr Hoffman, the Lemoine family, Pam, Nell, and Trish, Bob Ross, Vito, Cyril Mullins Funeral Home, and all who helped him feel comfort, peace, and love. He will be missed. Well done, good and faithful servant. How Great Thou, ART!
