EverWonder Announces June 2019 Schedule
EverWonder Children’s Museum, at 31 Pecks Lane, has announced its calendar for June 2019.
Members Only Hour will begin this month. The museum will open at 10 am for members, one hour earlier than non-member guests.
Ever wonder about Monarch butterflies? Visitors to the Yellow Lab this month will be invited to create their own Monarch Butterfly, while those who visit the Blue Science Lab will learn about and then create a Monarch Life Cycle Craft.
Science with Ms Sheila will continue for the first two Fridays in June.
This new program offers science experiments and discoveries with Ms Sheila, who has a Bachelor of Science degree in early childhood and elementary education and a Master’s in special education.
Parents must stay with their children during the program, which starts at 10:30 and is included with museum admission.
Special Events
Saturday, June 1: Author Visit, 11 am
Imani Ariana Grant, author of The Golden Life of Sally Sunflower, will be at the museum for a 60-minute program to include singing, reading her book, coloring a sunflower, and planting seeds to take home and watch grow.
Friday, June 7: Parents’ Night Out, 5-8 pm
Children ages 3 and up can be dropped off between 5 and 8 pm for open museum play, science demo, crafts, and dinner (slice of pizza and a drink).
Cost is $35 per child ($25 for museum members), $10 for each additional child, which covers the programming. Additional slices of pizza are available for $2 each.
Reservations are required and can be done by visiting the museum’s website (see below) or calling 203-364-4009. Children being dropped off must be potty trained.
Fridays, June 7 and 21: Visit with Ranger Nate, 10 am-2 pm
Ranger Nate from Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo will be at the museum to share fun animal information and furs.
Saturday, June 8: CT Open House Day (all day)
Celebrate CT Open House Day with half off admission for the day.
Tuesday and Wednesday, June 11-12: Extended Days with EverWonder (after school)
Newtown public school students can ride designated buses from their schools to EverWonder, where they will enjoy science activities and open museum time. Registration is required.
Sunday, June 16: Father’s Day at EverWonder (all day)
Admission is free for all dads visiting the museum on Father’s Day, when a special craft will also be offered.

Admission is $7 per person (free for those 12 months and under, museum members, and veterans). Parking at the museum is also free. Memberships and gift certificates are available.
EverWonder is a Blue Star Museum. All active duty and reserve military members and up to five family members will receive free admission with their military ID, Memorial Day to Labor Day. Veterans are always free, and their family members are half-price.
The museum is regularly open Tuesday through Thursday, 9 am to 4 pm; Friday, 9 am to 7 pm; and Saturday and Sunday, 11 am to 5 pm.
Formed in January 2011 by a group of parents, EverWonder Children’s Museum (incorporated as Newtown Children’s Museum Inc) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring children and families in northern Fairfield County through the use of hands-on museum exhibits and demonstrations.
