Newtown Choral Society, under the direction of Mary Andreotta and accompanied by Susan Anthony-Klein, will perform “Centuries of Hit Parades” as its spring concert on Saturday, May 18, at 4 pm, at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street.

Tickets are $10, with $8 for seniors and students, and are available at the door.

The program will span six centuries, from Morley’s “My Bonny Lass She Smileth” of the 16th Century to 2014’s immensely popular “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson with Bruno Mars.

Selections will also include excerpts from Mozart’s Figaro, “I Am The Very Model Of A Modern Major General” from The Pirates Of Penzance, a barbershop quartet version of “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad” that will feature the group’s basses and tenors, and “Seasons of Love” from Rent, among others.

Now in its 33rd year, Newtown Choral Society is a community choir and welcomes members from all area towns. The choir seeks members who love singing and have a willingness to learn. The choir is supported by dues, ticket sales, and program ads.

For information about the concert, or joining the choir as it prepares for its December concert, contact choir president Laura E. Lerman at 203-426-3769.
