To the Editor,

This is a letter of gratitude to all the students and parents, who with their support of me as an educator over many years, enabled me now to be a 2021 Republican candidate for the Newtown Board of Education. Without each of you who embraced an adventurous idea of “Learning with Moxie,” I would not be seeking such an important position to serve the community.

Although I have three university degrees in teaching and school administration, my biggest qualification is the testimony of every student, parent, and community member who say that I was a refreshing influence in the school system during my time as a teacher at Newtown Middle School. While I’m adept at “current educational theory” and “data-driven instructional methodology,” my passion is simply people-oriented teaching. I encourage educational leadership that promotes curiosity, critical thinking, and vigor for both students and educators to achieve world class excellence in every subject area and extra-curricular activity.

Along with two other dynamic and extremely talented partners, Jenn Larkin and Janet Kuzma, my goals are to promote three essential ideas.

First, we will embrace professional development for all educators that will inspire them to ignite a spirit of joy and excellence within each school and classroom.

Second, we will provide oversight in ways to create policies and procedures beneficial for every student and member of the staff.

Third, we will promote crystal clear communication with the community regarding matters of curriculum, professional development, and efficient use of taxpayer dollars.

We are asking you to vote “Just the Three of Us” for the Board of Education because our hearts and energy is boundless for the purpose of providing our youth the exemplary education every student in Newtown deserves. We also need your support to refresh the joy of teaching and learning during and after the challenging pandemic. The entire school community deserves a future of optimism, adventure, joy, and success!
