Newtown Choral Society will perform its holiday concert, A Child’s Christmas in Wales, a musical cantata by Matthew Harris, on Sunday, December 8, at 4 pm.

The seasonal concert will be at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street.

Under the direction of Mary Andreotta and accompanied by Susan Anthony-Klein, the cantata, first performed in 2002, sets to music the text by Dylan Thomas. It will feature tenor John Sullivan.

The choir will also perform other joyous songs and carols of the season from Hollywood and Broadway and music by Claude Debussy and Conrad Susa.

Other works in the program will include “Jesus, Jesus Rest Your Head,” “Walking in the Air,” “A Soalin’” and “Drummer Boy/Peace on Earth.”

Now in its 33rd year, the choir features singers from all area towns.

Admission is $10, $8 for senior citizens and guests age 12 and under, payable at the door.
