32nd Annual C.H. Booth Book Sale Set June 30–July 4

The Friends of the Cyrenius H. Booth Library’s 32nd Annual Book Sale will be held Saturday, June 30, through Wednesday, July 4, from 9 am to 5 pm each day, at the Reed Intermediate School, 3 Trades Lane (across from the Fairfield Hills campus). Patrons will be able to browse more than 120,000 carefully organized and alphabetized books in 80 categories, CDs, and video tapes in a spacious, climate-controlled facility with ample parking and other amenities. This year, for the first time, Visa and MasterCard will be accepted for purchases.

The rare book category continues to be the highlight of the sale because of its valuable collectibles and unique bargains for both dealers and bibliophiles. This year’s collection includes The Decisive Moment by world-famous photographer Henri Cartier Bresson; Tarzan comics, books, and posters in English, French, German, and Italian; a broad variety of pre- and World War I-era cookbooks; and numerous books in Hungarian.

The fiction section offers thousands of hardcover and paperback books, with subcategories that include classics, mysteries, science fiction, and romance. The nonfiction section features a wide range of categories, including art, architecture, history, biography, cooking, health, gardening, finance, travel, computers, and religion. New categories include Oprah’s Book Club, Royalty, and Chick Lit.

The very popular children’s section offers fiction and nonfiction books organized by type, by reading level, and by series, with a rich cross-section of items for toddlers to young adults.

Adult admission of $10 from 9 am to noon and $5 from noon to 5 pm will be charged on Saturday, June 30, only. Tickets will be available at the book sale site from 7 am on Saturday morning, with no advanced sales.

Monday is half-price day, Tuesday is $5 for a bag, and on Wednesday, everything will be free. Refreshments will be available for purchase, provided by the Boy Scouts.

The sale is sponsored by The Friends of the Cyrenius H. Booth Library, and all proceeds will benefit the Library. For more information, call the Booth Library at 426-4533 or visit the website, chboothlibrary.org.
