GREENWICH, CONN. —  Twenty record prices paid at auction for a variety of artists were established at Shannon’s auction of Fine American and European Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture Thursday evening, April 29. The record-setting sale was attended by a large and lively crowd that bid actively throughout the evening with a sold rate of 82 percent being posted and $3.6 million achieved for the 271 lots offered.

The top lot came as a classic Charles Courtney Curran oil on canvas depicting a woman posed on a picturesque vista and titled “Faraway Thoughts” sold for $121,800. Record prices for individual artists were established for Eric Sloane, Carl Peters, W. Granville-Smith and M.F.H. De Haas, among others.
