Michael Kondrat

Michael E. "Mike" Kondrat, 66, of Sandy Hook died unexpectedly October 1, at his home. He was born in Danbury on June 10, 1951, a son of the late Margaret (Churchill) and Irving Kondrat.

Mr Kondrat grew up in Danbury and was a graduate of Immaculate High School, where he played baseball and ran cross country. He also was a graduate of Western New England College in Springfield, Mass., where he was a member of the baseball team.

A lifelong resident of the Danbury area, Mr Kondrat was a resident of Sandy Hook for two years. He was employed as a driver for C&D Moving and Storage of Brookfield.

An avid Yankees and Giants fan, Mr Kondrat had been a member of several area bowling leagues and played in the Danbury Sunday Softball League.

His five children, Keith and Kyle Kondrat of Shelton and Brittany, Ryan, and John Kondrat of Brookfield; one brother, Kenneth Kondrat of Brookfield; and a niece and a nephew, survive him.

Friends may call at the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, on Friday, October 6, from 5 to 7 pm.
