C.H. Booth Library, at 25 Main Street, will host a new series of creative writing sessions for young adults in grades 6-8.

The winter session, which will begin after the new year, will explore the tools of fiction, including character, place, situation, and conflict. Each session will allow time for writing, sharing, and discussing stories in progress.

The group will meet from 6 to 8 pm, on five consecutive Tuesday evenings, January 5 to February 2. There is a limit of ten students. Participants are expected to attend all five sessions, and preference is given to Newtown students and residents.

Author and teacher Wally Wood is returning to lead the five-week session. Mr Wood received his MA in creative writing from the City University of New York, has written or edited 21 business books, and has published three novels, most recently the mystery Death in a Family Business.

Jordan Williams, a Booth Library creative writing alumna, will be assisting Mr Wood with the class.

There is no fee.

The Young Adult Creative Writing program is funded by the Friends of the C.H. Booth Library.
