An Evening Of Music And Reflection Planned
On December 11, The Joy of Art and Yoga Nidra’s Joy Hoffman invites the Newtown community to a special candlelit live music memorial honoring the memories of those who were killed on 12/14. A variety of talented and professional musicians will be performing.
All are invited to meet in the sanctuary of Newtown Congregational Church, 14 West Street, from 6 to 7:30 pm.
Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Mr Les Julian will perform instrumental guitar music. His performances showcase his award-winning original songs and illuminate universal themes of human life while celebrating the diversity of the world through music.
French cellist Lucas de Valdivia will also perform. Mr de Valdivia teaches throughout Fairfield County.
Ann Cote, a local pianist, will be singing and performing a few favorite songs. She began singing in church choirs at her home congregation in Bridgeport. She taught Sunday school music for more than ten years at Salem Lutheran Church.
Kari Haxhinasto, a pianist and singer, will have her daughter, Grace, and band, Louvarei, perform a number of original songs. Louvarei means “I Will Praise” in Portugese. The band consists of local artists Joe Manning, Matt Garcia, Gabriel Campanholi, and Dirceu Modesto. The band will be playing an inspirational acoustic set featuring several original songs on guitar, bass, and cajón. Ms Haxhinasto teaches music at several schools in Fairfield County and teaches private piano, voice, and composition in the Newtown area.
To conclude the evening, a multi-talented husband and wife team will be performing many beautiful and classical songs. Annabelle Fox and Douglas Waterbury-Tieman both are actors, singers, tap dancers, and musicians. Mr Waterbury-Tieman plays five instruments, specializing in the fiddle. Both are New York-based artists, specializing in musical theatre. Ms Fox works as a member experience associate at WeWork’s wellness club, RisebyWe. They are grateful for opportunities like the one in Newtown.
