Pastel Demo At Meeting House

The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN) will host a pastel demonstration by Tom Brenner on Wednesday, May 13, at 7:30 pm. Mr Brenner will be painting from a still life set-up.

The program is open to the public and will be at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street in Newtown (at the flagpole). Mr Brenner will begin the evening with a brief presentation on the history of pastel, on materials, and important considerations on setting up a still life. He will then use pastel, augmented with acrylic, to demonstrate his technique.

Tom Brenner is a noted pastelist and teacher. He has been teaching at Silvermine School of Art for more than 12 years, as well as at Housatonic Community College.
