Although like so many other important institutions, the library is currently closed to the public, the staff of the library is hard at work. We are updating our online guides to provide helpful information to the public, and we are adding more databases and digital media as they become available.

For children:

Our children’s department misses our younger patrons! While we cannot see you face to face in person yet, every weekday we have something for you on our Facebook page.

*Mondays — Lego Club leader Ms Martine will post a new Lego building challenge on the library’s Facebook page.

*Tuesdays — You may be sick of your backyard, let Miss Nora show you hers! See Miss Nora as she explores her backyard with pictures and questions about the animals and plants springing up. Enjoy a recommended book on the theme of the day on TumbleBooks through the library website.

*Wednesdays — Mother Goose at home with Miss Nora. Join Miss Nora for songs and rhymes with puppet friends from the library. This is pitched at ages 0-3.

*Thursdays — Miss Lana and Friends. Miss Lana is working from home, but she’s not alone. Her puppet friends are being taken care of, don’t you worry! For ages 2-5.

*Fridays — What is Mrs Morin Reading? As you know, Mrs Morin is always reading a good book. What does she do when the library is closed? She reads e-books of course! Every Friday, Mrs Morin will share her top picks on Facebook for readers of all ages.

For adults:

Online Book Group: The Lost Book of Adana Moreau, Thursday, April 30 at 7 pm; This book by Michael Zapata is one of 2020’s most anticipated and lauded reads. A three-week download of it as an e-book or an audiobook is available for free for C.H. Booth cardholders through Hoopla. It is the mesmerizing story of a Latin American science fiction writer and the lives her lost manuscript unites decades later in post-Katrina New Orleans. What results is a brilliantly layered masterpiece—an ode to home, storytelling and the possibility of parallel worlds. We will send a link to the virtual meeting the day before, so we need your e-mail address. E-mail programs@chboothlibrary to register. Need help accessing the book or using hoopla? E-mail us at help@chboothlibrary.org.

Every Wednesday Amy Schumann, Head of Reference, will post a new video about one of the library’s online databases. Learn how to use our great online information to your advantage.

Would you like a brief e-mail every day highlighting an event and/or service of the library? Go to https://chboothlibrary.org/sign-up-for-sunshine/ to subscribe.

Since April 1, we’ve been having a community stay-at-home activity, Together Apart Newtown! Each day we will post a free online activity for adults. We hope you will participate, then comment on the activity. Some of the activities are time sensitive (it is up to the institution or artist), some will be up for awhile.

For more information or any questions, use our new e-mail, help@chboothlibrary.org.
