William Linus “Bill” Theobald, 90, of Southbury, died November 28, at Danbury Hospital after a brief illness. Born September 23, 1928, in Scranton, Penn., he was the son of the late Bernard and Julia (Lesco) Theobald. He was the husband of the late Janice (Markoya) Theobald for 52 years.

His children and their spouses, Melanie and Bill Darrah of Newtown, Karen and David Critelli of Southbury, and William Theobald II of Southbury; his grandchildren, Christopher, Natalie, and Jose Critelli, Katharine and Elizabeth Townsend, and William and Victoria Theobald; as well as many nieces and nephews survive him. Mr Theobald will also be missed by his longtime pet beagle.

His siblings, Bernard Theobald, Robert Theobald, Gerald Theobald, Julia Flynn, Grace Jones, Catherine Theobald, and Helen Gaul, predeceased him.

Mr Theobald moved to Stratford in his twenties and received an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Norwalk State Technical Institute. He lived most of his life in Bridgeport and was employed by the Remington Arms Company for 42 years and the Diocese of Bridgeport for 11 years. He also proudly served his country as a Sergeant stationed in Gablingen, Germany, during the Korean War. Upon his retirement, Mr Theobald moved to Heritage Village in Southbury.

He will be remembered for his love of family, especially his grandchildren, his skill at duck pin bowling, trips to Lake George, and the many rounds of weekend golf at Gainfield Farms.

A celebration of Mr Theobald’s life will take place Saturday, December 15, at 10:30 am, in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Chapel in Scranton, Penn. Interment will be at the Saint John the Baptist Cemetery, immediately following the service.
