The Wall That Heals Comes To New Milford

The Wall That Heals, a 250-foot replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, along with a mobile education center is expected to arrive at 6 Young's Field in New Milford, Thursday, October 27, at 11 am. The Wall That Heals honors the more than three million Americans who served in the US Armed Forces during the Vietnam War. It bears the names of the more than 58,000 men and women who died in Vietnam. Soldiers of Vietnam. A daily schedule of events can be found at www.thewallnewmilford.org.

The Wall That Heals offers an educational experience for schools, organizations, and visitors on the history of the Vietnam era and the wall. The exhibit includes a mobile education center comprised of photos of service members whose names are found on the wall; letters and memorabilia left at the wall in Washington, DC; and a map of Vietnam and chronological overview of the conflict. The exhibits tell the story of the Vietnam War, the wall, and the era surrounding the conflict.

Several events will be held through the New Milford community while The Wall That Heals is in town through Sunday, October 30, including a quilt display, Gold Star exhibit, lecture, and viewings of the documentary

The Roger Sherman Chapter, DAR, is hosting The Wall That Heals.

Vietnam veterans will be honored with a special lapel pin from the USA Vietnam War Commemoration each day.
