Virginia Adeline Guida Lengel, 86, died February 8, after a final celebration with her loving family. A lifelong resident of Bridgeport, she was the daughter of the late Philomena Salvagno Guida and Louis Guida of Napoli and Troia, born June 17, 1929.www.alz.org.www.abriola.com.

Four children, Lauren Butler, and fiancé Keith Brown, of Sandy Hook, Sharon Gombotz, and husband David, of Bethlehem, Penn., Rick Lengel, and wife Janyce, of Trumbull, and Scott Lengel, and wife Lisa, of Hilton Head, S.C.; five grandchildren, Stephen Gombotz of Charlotte, N.C., Kevin Gombotz of Gainesville, Fla., Ryan Lengel of Washington, D.C., Lindsay Butler of Hoboken, N.J., and Kyle Lengel of Clemson, S.C.; and five wonderful great-grandchildren survive Mrs Lengel. In addition to her loving husband, Andrew, her much loved brother, Lou, with whom she had a special relationship, predeceased her.

She met her soon-to-be husband while he was doing roof work at her lifelong best friend Kay's home, and married him April 23, 1949. Working as a telephone operator and later receptionist at the Jewish Home for the Elderly, Mrs Lengel loved preparing Italian feasts for her friends and family, finding peace at Saint Mary's by the Sea, and catching up on every game of her Yankees. She taught her family that no matter what life throws at someone, the most important things to focus on are love, family, and a positive attitude. She was a beacon of warmth and hope to anyone she crossed paths with.

Mrs Lengel was always very proud of her entire family and continued to give nothing but love. The "good old days" are filled with endless cherished memories. Her family gives a special thanks to the loving care given to her by Penny and Una.

A funeral service will take place Wednesday, February 10, at 7 pm, at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family, Wednesday, from 4 to 7 pm, at the funeral home. The interment will be private.
